    Vintage Hand Carved Wood Beam Fragment Antique Asian Carving Sculpture Iron Stand Architectural Detail
    Hand carved in Asia, perhaps in Indonesia, this fragment of a roof rafter beam is highly decorative with contrasting designs in relief on both sides. Not being an expert, I do not know the kind of wood used or the exact country of origin.
    The wood is very weathered, as can be seen in the photos. Also visible is the iron stand which holds the carving in an upright position with one bolt as an attachment fitting.
    Found at a local estate auction, there is no mark or other identification as to an location or date. The dimensions are about 18-1/2" tall x 7" width x 1-1/2" depth. The iron base measures 6" x 10" and stands on 4 small feet that give it a height of 3/4". With the stand in place, it weighs about 8 pounds 11-1/2 ounces.
    Antique condition is good with surface weathering & many long thin cracks where the wood has dried and contracted.
    Overall surface patina is quite appealing, although oil could be added to bring out more of the grain variations.
    This great looking sculptured architectural detail would be a wonderful gift, an addition to a collection or an eye-catching decorative accessory. It will be shipped detached from its base, so reassembly will be needed.
