    Southern Pacific 4449 is famous for its brilliant orange, red, and black paint scheme. However, in preparations for the US Bicentennial, SP 4449 was removed from a park where she had been retired to and was restored and painted in this red, white, and blue paint scheme to pull the American Freedom Train, which would travel around the United States during 1976. After this, she was not put back on display but rather returned to her classic Daylight colors and began a life in excursion service.
