French Wrought Iron Gothic Light Fixture Six Sockets & Old Paint; C. 1900

Description

Dramatic late 19th/early 20th century French wrought iron hanging light fixture. Imported from Europe and sold by Old Plank Road Antiques, which for years has been Chicago’s primary resource for French and continental antiques and decorative arts. Ready to use as the wiring and sockets have been updated.
Hand-wrought frame and scrollwork, with gothic patterns cut out of heavy metal sheets. Three individual sockets at either end. The paint is old, and likely original. The wiring has been updated and is “French wired” to the frame and then splits for each individual socket. The two hanging chains could be shortened or lengthened based on need.
Exceptional condition. Level and plum. No damage or repairs.
Dimensions: 76” wide and 26” deep. The height, when measured from the top of the fixture to the bottom of the scrolled detail in the center is appx. 35”. The overall height from the top of the fixture to the bottom of the sockets is 41”. The ceiling plate is 16.5” x 6” and the current chain length is 34”.
